John Allen Jr. has an excellent article up at NCR dealing with the problematic practice of importing priests to the USA from third world countries.  The questions to which I have yet to get an answer:  If the need is so much greater in the third world for priests then why in the world would a priest come here and why are we encouraging it?  Sure, we have a need here in the states for priests… but how does our need become greater than, say, the need in Latin America or India, where the ratio between priest and number of Catholics is much greater?
